Reading Wrap-Up ~ July

Hello everyone, I hope your reading is going well! Today I’m brining you my reading wrap up for the month of July! This month treated me well, and I got quite a bit of reading done. I’m calling this month my ‘month of five star reads’ – read on to see why:

Caraval – Stephanie Garber

This was my first read of the month and I LOVED it! I’m run a bookclub, which ensures I at least get one book read every month, and Caraval was our book of July. This book was filled with high-jinx and it was so colourful. I loved the world Garber created, and her writing was beautiful yet to the point, which was amazing. I have a full review here!

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If Only – Melanie Murphy

My first contemporary read of the year… I know, WHAT?! When I was going over the genres I read this year, it’s only been fantasy, so this was a nice and clean break. The reasons I loved this book were, it was Irish, it was well written and the characters who were so relatable due to their flaws. This book showed the good and the bad of life and I really enjoyed the ending. I have a full review here!

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Twilight – Stephenie Meyer

Another wow, from me. This year I read Twilight for the first time. I loved it. This has turned into one of my all time favourites. I loved the relationship and it reminded me so much of ACOMAF and I think that’s why I loved it so much. I didn’t review this one of Goodreads because I thought people would be like ‘Why is this person only reading this now’ – I know I’m late to the game, ok – but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the book. People gave Twilight so much crap, so I went into this with some low-expectations and they were blow out of the water. This book encompasses everything that I love: Vampires, Hate-to-Love Romances and Family Dynamics. I’m currently 100+ pages into New Moon!

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sadie – Courtney Summers

We’ve arrived at my favourite read of this month, and the whole year. This book was so hard-hitting, phenomenally written and encompassed everything I didn’t know I needed. As I mentioned, I don’t normally stray to far from the warm embrace of Fantasy – but I’m so happy I did with this book. If you can, please listen to the audiobook because this book is written in podcast form and the audiobook has a full cast and sound affects. There are many trigger warnings when it comes to this book – so, make sure to read them before reading this. I have a full, blog review here.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Vampire Academy – Richelle Mead

After finishing Twilight, I had to devour more Vampire material, and everyone on Twitter recommended me this one. I listened to the audiobook of this and I didn’t really like the narrator, and now listening to a new narrator in book 2, I like them even less. I can’t wait to continue these books physically. Overall, I enjoyed this, but for a first book it was what a first book is – and introduction. Nothing really happened until the end and it felt slow and points. Book 2 is already so much better and I can’t wait to finish it! I have a full review here!

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
